The Working Draft Writers Group
The Working Draft

A new writer's group is opening at The Printworks in Tavistock
Novels, plays, short stories, non-fiction... whatever you write, if you want to improve your craft, then The Working Draft may be for you.
The Working Draft will be a regular meet-up group for writers who believe that the best way to improve their writing is through honest feedback, delivered with kindness. We're looking for people to join our monthly, Monday evening sessions at The Printworks, Tavistock, the next one is Monday 20th July 2026.
HOW IT WORKS
Each two-hour session has two parts: members share work-in-progress and receive honest, structured feedback from the group; then we discuss writing itself: process, craft, and how to navigate submitting work for publication. The discussion is practical, honest, and built around the idea that everyone in the room is there to improve.
WHO IT'S FOR
The group welcomes writers at all stages of their writing journey, and you can expect a mix of established authors and people just starting out. What everyone will share is a serious desire to develop their craft and a willingness to give and receive constructive feedback.
If you can take an honest critique without it derailing you, and give one without it being unkind, then you'll fit right in. Scary? Not the way we do it. It’s relaxed, it’s fun, and it works.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU’RE INTERESTED
Get in touch with founder Matt Plass at mplass@outlook.com to register your interest. Please note that the group size will not exceed 8 - 10 people, so places may be limited. Any questions about the group, the format or anything else, do ask!

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
We are united by a common problem - alcohol. Through meetings and talking with other alcoholics, we are somehow able to stay sober. We lose the compulsion to drink, which was once the dominant force in our lives.
Several meetings a week are held at The Printworks. For more information see www.alcoholics--anonymous.org.uk/AA-Meetings/Find-a-Meeting or telephone 0800 9177 650 or email help@aamail.org
